The Kreher Preserve and Nature Center’s new Environmental Education Building is a state-of-the-art multi-purpose structure made of cross-laminated timber, showcasing a sustainable alternative to traditional construction practices and sourced from Southern yellow pine in Dothan, AL. It houses the City of Auburn Community Classroom and the KPNC’s Woodlands Wonder Classroom, the first nature preschool in the state to be designated as an Alabama First Class Pre-K program. The Environmental Education building was designed to fit in harmony with the 120 acres of the Kreher Preserve. Features of the building are designed to mimic the preserve, including wooden columns, wide views and incredible amounts of sunlight.
