Zones

There are four zones. Each zone is composed of experts within the following trades: carpentry, electrical, mechanical, paint, and plumbing. Use the Facilities Maintenance Zone Application to determine your zone and assigned supervisors.

Shops

Automotive: Maintains and repairs all Facilities Management vehicles and repairs other university-owned vehicles as requested.

Fabrication: Creates metal parts and structures to be used on construction projects across campus.

Access Control: Access Control is located on the bottom floor of the Stadium Parking Deck.

  1. Make and issue keys
  2. Provide cores for doors and padlocks
  3. Provide and repair locks
  4. Provide, install and maintain card readers, proximity readers, and biometric readers
  5. Repair and replacement of door hardware to ensure doors are working properly

Heavy Construction: Provides repair and replacement of university-owned streets, sidewalks, buildings and roofing.

In-House Construction

In-House Construction is dedicated to providing quality workmanship while maintaining the highest safety standards, and professional management with minimal disruption of the daily activities in the departments where the work is being performed. It performs small to medium size construction projects on Auburn University property. Its multi-skilled work force enables it to provide quick response with minimal or no design in order to meet the immediate needs of Auburn University. Typical projects include ADA access issues, electrical work, fire alarms, office renovations, laboratory renovations and classroom renovations.

Maintenance Engineering Group

The maintenance engineer serves as Auburn University’s lead engineer and technical expert for facility and building maintenance issues in support of the Facilities Management organization. This position directly manages the Technical Advisory Group, which is comprised of Technical Experts in the fields of Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical; as well as the preventative maintenance function of the Maintenance Department.

Technical Advisory Group

Provides in-depth technical support in solving difficult electrical, plumbing, and mechanical facility problems encountered by the Maintenance Zones and Shops. This team is expected to be the most knowledgeable experts on campus within their respective trades/fields. In addition to technical support, this group is responsible for design review, construction inspection, quality control, and training programs for their respective trades.

Preventative Maintenance

Responsible for the successful completion of quarterly preventative maintenance activities to building systems in order to prolong the expected lifespan of the system as well as increase system reliability.
