Nate Evans serves as Assistant Supervisor for Facilities Zone Maintenance, supporting Maintenance Zone 3 within Facilities Management. In this role, Nate helps oversee daily maintenance operations while also being hands-on in the work itself. He is being highlighted for the steady way he shows up for his team, his willingness to take ownership when things get complicated, and the trust he has built across Facilities. Coworkers consistently point to Nate as someone they rely on when work needs to move forward without delay.

One quality that stands out about Nate is how dependable he is when problems arise, especially during urgent or high-pressure situations. In Zone 3, many issues (particularly those supporting the Vet School) are time-sensitive and critical. Nate is quick to respond, assess what needs to happen, and get a plan in place. He stays involved from start to finish, whether that means troubleshooting an issue on-site, coordinating resources, or working after hours to make sure the job gets done. When Nate is involved, coworkers know the situation is being handled.

Nate encourages me to grow through how he works. He communicates clearly, follows through, and takes ownership of his responsibilities. He’s also highly collaborative, he asks questions, provides updates, and works through issues together rather than operating independently. That approach helps us stay aligned and continue improving how we operate as a team.”

Another strong theme coworkers mention is how Nate works alongside people rather than directing from a distance. He leads by example, often stepping in to work shoulder-to-shoulder with his team. This approach sets clear expectations and builds trust, because people see that he is willing to put in the same effort he expects from others. When Nate is on a job, the team knows he’s in it with them. He works alongside his crew, stays engaged, and helps keep things moving until the issue is resolved.

“Nate readily supports other zones by sharing his knowledge and experience, and he proactively collaborates with other departments to assist with a wide range of work needs.”

Nate is also someone who actively helps others grow in their roles. Instead of taking over when challenges come up, he takes the time to explain the issue, talk through possible approaches, and make sure others understand the “why” behind the work. Coworkers describe learning more from him simply by working through problems together. That willingness to share knowledge strengthens both the team and Facilities as a whole, helping others gain confidence and take on more responsibility.

“I believe Nate is deserving of the Employee Spotlight because of his strong dedication to his employees, both professionally and personally. He takes a genuine interest in their well-being and consistently offers support.”

Overall, Nate is known for being someone people can count on – whether that means responding quickly to an urgent issue, backing up his team, or working through challenges with campus partners. His work directly supports the buildings and services that Auburn students, faculty, staff, and guests rely on every day, often in moments when there is no room for delay. Across Zone 3 and beyond, Nate makes Facilities Management better positioned to serve the campus. The impact of his work is felt well beyond his immediate team. Thank you, Nate, for the care, leadership, and reliability you bring to Facilities Management and Auburn University!
