The Waste Reduction and Recycling Department manages waste contracts on campus and works with faculty, staff, and students to provide recycling services to the campus community. Recycling turns materials that would otherwise become waste into resources. Benefits include conserving natural resources, saving energy, preventing pollution, and reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills.

Shredding Services
Auburn University generates records that may contain sensitive information. Some examples are personnel records, student records, financial records, and health records. Shredding of university documents is available through Facilities Management to ensure the material is recycled and disposed of properly.
Facilities Management hosts scheduled Document Shredding Days on campus from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Departments must drop off materials for shredding at the designated location between these times. Participating departments will be charged $3 per box for shredding and a labor fee if a pick-up is needed.
All departments must prepare the Certificate of Records Destruction form in accordance with the instructions on the form. This Certificate must be submitted at least 72 hours before the scheduled shredding date.
Remove non-paper items like plastic sheet protectors, large binder clips (1 inch wide or greater) and 3-ring binders.

Recycling and Auburn Football
Volunteer
There is nothing better than Auburn Football and Recycling! The Waste Reduction and Recycling Department needs student volunteers to hand out recycling bags to tailgaters before home football games for the Game Day Recycling Program. Students may receive a complementary student pass into the game for volunteering.
