Several construction projects will begin the week of May 12 as the campus transitions into the summer months.
“These construction projects are strategically scheduled during the summer semester to minimize disruption to students and campus,” said Wendy Peacock, Facilities Management director of Construction Management. “By leveraging the summer, we ensure the campus is fully prepared to welcome students back in the fall.”
Details about these projects are listed below:
Garden Drive Road Closure
Garden Drive will be closed from Mell Street to the entry of the Arboretum May 12-16. Parallel parking along Garden Drive will be closed, but the Arboretum parking lot located just off South College Street will remain open. Construction will include utility connections for the Garden Pavilion University Events Center Addition project.
West Samford Avenue Road Closure
A section of West Samford Avenue will be closed from the Mell Street intersection to the Duncan Drive intersection May 13 through July 7. Intermittent Haley Concourse Closures
Intermittent closures of the Haley Center Concourse from the Thach Concourse to the New University Student Housing project construction will take place through July 21. A crane will be located on the concourse during this time to lift equipment and supplies for the Haley Center heating, ventilation and air conditioning replacement project. The planned outage dates are May 26-27, June 2-3 and 18-19, and July 18-21.
