Our Program:

The Facilities Management Apprenticeship Program is registered through the State of Alabama and is designed to establish and maintain high standards of work performance through the development of skilled employees using on-the-job training supplemented by technical and theoretical classroom instruction.  This program aligns with the statewide goal of engaging high school graduates in the trades and skilled trade labor force for the state of Alabama.  The apprenticeship program provides promotional opportunities for candidates and an avenue for entry into the skilled trades for those who have minimal or no training in the trades’ fields.

Curriculum Details:

Apprentices that successfully complete their academic work (approximately 700 hours related training course work) and required on-the-job training (8000 hours) are awarded the certificate of completion for the State of Alabama Registered Apprenticeship program. We are using the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) curriculum for the related training course work. This curriculum is approved by the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship. AUFM is a certified Training Site for NCCER and we have an onsite Master Trainer. An Introductory CORE class (introduction to construction and safety) is required of each apprentice before they break into trade-specific courses for the next 3.5 years of the apprenticeship program.

Entry and Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Reliable proof of age must be provided
  • Must be legally allowed to work in the United States
  • Two (2) forms of identity verification
